Two-tone Raft Spider by steb1
A late season Raft Spider Dolomedes fimbriatus using a fallen Birch leaf for a bit of assistance. The mild weather means there's a lot more Raft Spiders around on Fenns and Whixall Moss than you'd usually expect at this time of the year, including on the water. In fact quite a few of these sub-adults were getting a bit of extra assistance from Birch leaves. Raft Spiders are quite variable in appearance. On some the lateral stripe is yellow, on others it is more or less white. This one unusually has a different coloured stripe on the thorax compared to that on the abdomen. http://ift.tt/2yEJRJh... http://ift.tt/2gyz1hk
