Pen yr Orsedd Winding House by Teigl

A blondin ropeway winder . The ropeway extended across the New Quarry to a lattice-work mast that once stood on level 8. At the foot of the mast (SH 5085 5407) a pulley set in steel frames turned the haulage ropes through 90 degree angles to a further set of pulleys whereby they reached the engine house at SH 5085 5404. The winding drum is a substantial casting, formerly operated from a Bruce Peebles three-phase motor of 1906 through reduction gearing. Various scattered remains lie about, of the control mechanism and the liquid controller. OS NGR: 250849 354033 http://ift.tt/2uLjWyL
