Using an astro-tracker and a very long exposure, I was able to capture the Milky Way in glorious detail within the Bisti Badlands of New Mexico. These ancient hoodoos spoke to me deeply, and the dome of rock in the distance made for an inviting subject to center above the hoodoos below the Milky Way core. https://flic.kr/p/DWcTZg

화웨이에 LTE 프로세서 공급 면허 받은 퀄컴

화웨이는 미국 상무부 제재로 지난 9월 15일 이후 파운더리에서 신규 모바일 프로세서를 생산하지 못하는 상황입니다. 때문에 제재 실행 전 화웨이는 신형 프로세서인 5nm 기린 9000 5G 프로세서를 최대한 확보하려고 했으나 수량이 기대에 크게 미치지 못했습니다. 이로 인해 화웨이는 고성능 스마트폰 공급이 어려워진 상황인데요. 미국 상무부가 화웨이에 칩을 공급하도록 TSMC에 라이센스를 부여했지만, 28nm로 생산된 칩에 대한 면허여서 프로세서 부족은 여전한 상황이었습니다. 다행히 퀄컴이 미 상무부로부터 화웨이에 칩을 판매 할 수 있는 라이센스를 받았는데요. 화웨이에 공급되는 퀄컴 칩이 4G까지 지원하도록 기능을 제한한 것으로 확인됐습니다. 이는 5G 시장에 모바일 제품을 공급하려는 화웨이의 계획에 도움이 되긴 어려워 보이는데요. 화웨이가 기존에 확보한 기린 9000 프로세서가 2021년 초 소진될 수 있는 상황에서 퀄컴의 4G 프로세서를 활용할지 지켜봐야 할 듯합니다. Light and Glory over Crete

The month was July, the place was the Greek island of Crete, and the sky was spectacular. Of course there were the usual stars like Polaris, Vega, and Antares -- and that common asterism everyone knows: the Big Dipper. But this sky was just getting started. The band of the Milky Way Galaxy stunned as it arched across the night like a bridge made of stars and dust but dotted with red nebula like candy. The planets Saturn and Jupiter were so bright you wanted to stop people on the beach and point them out. The air glowed like a rainbow -- but what really grabbed the glory was a comet. Just above the northern horizon, Comet NEOWISE spread its tails like nothing you had ever seen before or might ever see again.
