There is nothing more tender than the bond between mother and child. The phenomenon isn't species specific. The moments may be brief and fleeting but they are there for those who choose to watch and wait. On their meandering path across the open plain, this young filly is comforted by a gentle nudge with mom. Though young horses in captivity will usually be weaned by 6 months, wild horses will sometime nurse up until about one year.
